Blood in the Water
This video is the first installment in a series produced by the winners of APLN’s 2022 Pacific Islands Creative Competition on “Nuclear Weapons and the Climate Crisis.” The purpose of the video series is to showcase each winner, their stories, and the detrimental impact that nuclear policies, practices, and climate change have had on their respective communities.
Dorell Ben chose to convey her message through a powerful video that complements her award-winning poem and art series titled “Blood in the Water.” The series delves into the themes of ancestry, legacy, and the ocean, offering diverse interpretations, including issues related to climate change and the ongoing struggles to restore sovereignty to the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific.
