Members

The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) has over one hundred members from eighteen countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders. APLN aims to inform and energize public opinion, especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and to do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and eventually eliminated.

Alson Kelen is a Bikinian cultural leader, master navigator, and co-founder and Executive Director of Waan Aelōň in Majel (WAM), a Marshall Islands NGO dedicated to preserving and revitalising traditional canoe building, navigation, and Marshallese cultural knowledge while empowering local youth through life skills and community development. He has held numerous leadership positions, including Mayor and Councilman of Bikini Atoll, Chairman of the Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation, Chairman of the Marshall Islands Port Authority, President of the Marshall Islands Council of NGOs, and a Board Director of the Pacific Islands Association of NGOs. He also serves on the Marshall Islands National Nuclear Commission, where he advocates for recognition of the enduring impacts of US nuclear testing and for justice and support for affected communities. In addition, he is actively engaged in climate advocacy and has represented the Marshall Islands at UN climate conferences through the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
