The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network (APLN) has over 180 members from 26 countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders, dedicated to addressing security challenges in the Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on nuclear non-proliferation, risk reduction, and disarmament.

Member of the Korean National Assembly

Kim Joon Hyung is a member of the Korean National Assembly, a former professor at Handong Global University, and the former chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA).

Dr. Kim Joon Hyung is a member of the Korean National Assembly. He taught international politics as a professor at Handong Global University for 25 years. Additionally, he served as the Chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). He is currently the president of "Korea Diplomacy Plaza," a network of regional experts and international relations professionals. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Yonsei University and his master's and doctoral degrees in political science from George Washington University in the United States.

His areas of specialization and interest include international relations theory, Northeast Asian relations, and US-China, US-ROK, and inter-Korean relations. Since 2016, he has been a member of Moon Jae-in's presidential election camp, where he consulted and drafted key foreign policy initiatives. After Moon was elected, Dr. Kim joined the Government Transition Committee and became a member of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. He also served on advisory committees for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Unification, and the National Security Council.

In 2024, he was elected as a member of the 22nd National Assembly for the Rebuilding Korea Party (list member). He currently serves as a standing committee member of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee.
