The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network (APLN) has over 180 members from 26 countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders, dedicated to addressing security challenges in the Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on nuclear non-proliferation, risk reduction, and disarmament.

John Borrie is Special Adviser on Disarmament at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, based in Wellington, New Zealand. He has worked on disarmament, arms control, humanitarian and international security issues for many years, including for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research, International Committee of the Red Cross and New Zealand Government at various points in his career, and has published widely on these themes.
