Christelle Barakat is a researcher at the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS). She is a Lebanese Fulbright Foreign Student program graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She holds an M.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies with a concentration on International Peace Development. She also holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs with high distinction from the Lebanese American University, where she was additionally part of the honors program, with 3 minors in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, Gender Studies, and Legal Studies. Her areas of interest include conflict analysis and resolution, disarmament, migration and refugee studies, and women and gender studies, among others. Christelle was selected by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs in New York as 1 of 10 United Nations Youth Champions for Disarmament (2020-2022), as 1 of 25 Leaders 4 Tomorrow (2022), as a Leader 2 the Future (2023), and as a Youth Leader for a World Without Nuclear Weapons (2024). In 2022, she was one of 29 chosen participants who partook in the 2022 Hiroshima-ICAN Academy revolving around nuclear disarmament and sustainability, held partially virtually and partially in-person in Hiroshima, Japan.
