The 75th Anniversary NagasakiNuclear-Pandemic Scenario Project
TheCOVID-19 pandemic is now threatening the world, affecting all aspects ofinternational community. Nuclear disarmament is no exception. It is critically important now to analyze the relationship between post-pandemic internationalorder and the nuclear weapon risks. The key question we ask here is: “What are the opportunities driven by global pandemics for Northeast Asiangovernments, civil society, and market actors to reduce nuclear risk and resumenuclear disarmament?”
ResearchCenter for Nuclear Weapons Abolition, Nagasaki University, (RECNA), with apartnership with Nautilus Institute for security and sustainability, AsiaPacific Leadership Network for Nuclear non-proliferation and Disarmament(APLN), decided to hold the event as a special event on the 75th Anniversary ofatomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The event will take place on thefollowing date/time.
1stround: October 31 (Sat) 9:00-13:00 and Nov. 1 (Sun) 9:30-13:00 [Japan Time]
2ndround: November 14 (Sat) 9:00-13:00 and Nov. 15 (Sun) 9:30-13:00 [Japan Time]
The meeting willtake place using on-line application tool and about 40-50 participants fromdiversified background, nationalities, gender, age, will join the event. Theevent will be held under the “Chatham House Rule”* but the Opening session onOctober 31st will be open to the public and media.
