[Research Internship Program] Fall 2020

About

The Asia-Pacific LeadershipNetwork for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) is a Seoul-basedadvocacy group consisting of members from 16 countries across Asia and thePacific. The network aims to inform and influence the opinions of the generalpublic so as to increase the awareness of nuclear threats and implementmeasures to contain, diminish and eventually eliminate these threats.

The APLN undertakes projectsand programs to reduce the risk of wars and nuclear wars, ensure thenon-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons,and nurture a new and diverse generation of leadership to address these issuesin the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Qualifications

· We are looking for individuals who have:

o training and interest in international relations, international security,sustainable development or related fields;

o a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently;

o experience in research work or related fields;

o fluency in English (required);

o academic fluency in Korean (desired).

· Knowledge:

o bachelor’s degree or enrolled at an undergraduate institution in politicalscience, regional studies, international relations, history, or other relevantdiscipline;

o proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

· Competencies:

o attention to detail and the ability to multi-task;

o excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills;

o high degree of organization and initiative.

 

Responsibilities

· Interns work with senior staff and research fellows on:

o writing policy briefs and working papers;

o the creation of commentaries and blog posts on their research interests;

o assembling research materials into a research database;

o helping with social media outreach;

o attending and reporting on seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Interns on the research teamwill work closely with fellows to assist with ongoing APLN projects, and willalso have the opportunity to conduct original research and publish theirfindings.

 

Dates and Duration

Fall internships will last from August to the beginning of February with the subject line “APLNInternship_NAME” by July 24th, 2020.

Prospective interns willreceive notice via email when they have been selected for an interview. Onlythose selected for an interview will be contacted.
