Statement to the Second Meeting of States Parties to the TPNW
We’re excited to see our project on Nuclear Use in Northeast Asia mentioned in Ms. Hwang Sooyoung’s speech at the Second Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons!
Ms. Hwang of People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD) discussed our Year 2 project report on humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons, which estimated fatalities and health effects resulting from five plausible nuclear weapons use cases involving the DPRK, United States, China, and Russia.
Ms. Hwang’s remarks are available in English here.
This project is a joint effort between APLN, the Research Center for Nuclear Weapons Abolition, Nagasaki University (RECNA) and the Nautilus Institute.
