Legal Advisor of International Committee of the Red Cross

Highly motivated Australian qualified lawyer with a passion for human rights, international humanitarian law and international criminal law with an LLM in Public International Law (Human Rights) and proven experience in legal research, forensic and analytical skills gained in both the private and NGO sectors. I am adaptable, comfortable in high-pressure environments, possess a strong work ethic and genuine interest in making a difference to those experiencing disadvantage. I am a strong communicator and can write for and present to different audiences (legal, academic, policy makers, media). I have a sound knowledge of IHL, protection and rights issues related to prisoners (prison conditions, access to justice) given my cross-jurisdictional work in Western Australia and in the Northern Territory.

As a Legal Adviser for the International Committee of the Red Cross, I am fervent believer and champion of ICRC’s foundational principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence as the best way to fulfill our mandate to protect and assist those persons and structures that are legally protected by the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocols in times of conflict. Our foundational principles are our gateway to guaranteeing the acceptance necessary to secure access to communities affected by conflict, and to open up dialogue with parties to the conflict on their obligations to respect and ensure respect for international humanitarian law both in times of war and in times of peace.
