Dr Angel Damayanti is a Professor in the International Relations Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol), Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI), Jakarta. Her research interests focus on security studies, including radicalism, terrorism, human security, and maritime in the Asia Pacific, which made her conduct some publications, including Unjust Treatment and Intolerance: The Dynamic of Religious Politics and Christianity in Turkiye (2023), Misuse of Islamic Charity for Terrorism in Indonesia: Modus, Countermeasures, and Challenges (2023), From Evangelization to Worship Restriction: The Changing Characteristics of Threat Perception Between Muslims and Christians in Indonesia (2022), Islamophobia in Indo-Pacific and the Role of ASEAN (2022), Trumps Immigration Policy at the US-Mexico Border and the Impact on Human Security (2022), and ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific and Persian Gulf Stability (2021).

Angel has been appointed an interviewer for prospective participants in the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology since 2021. She also participates professionally in various Indonesian ministries, such as the National Counterterrorism Agency, the Presidential Advisory Council, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law, and Security. In addition, foreign agencies often invite her as a resource person to discuss issues of terrorism in Southeast Asia and maritime security in the region, such as the US Embassy, US Department of Justice, and China Embassy for Indonesia and ASEAN.
