Dr. Afsah Qazi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Strategic Studies, Air University, Islamabad. Prior to joining Air University, she served as Assistant Professor of International Relations at National Defense University Islamabad from 2017 till 2022. While at NDU, she was also an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Contemporary Studies (JCS). She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate in International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University (2011), from where she earned both here Masters and M. Phil degrees. She acquired her doctorate in the same discipline from School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Jilin University, China in 2016. She pursued her PhD on a merit scholarship awarded by the China Scholarship Council. Her M. Phil thesis dealt with the 'Nuclear Suppliers Group: Evolution in 21st century and Impact upon Non-Proliferation Regime', whereas her PhD dissertation was titled ‘ASEAN’s response to Climate Change, Human Rights and Terrorism: Understanding the Role of Track-Two Processes’. The diverse foci of the two researches allow her to explore the breadth of security issues lying across the traditional- non-traditional spectrum. Her individual and co-authored research has appeared in both local and foreign peer-reviewed journals. She has also been a member of the Higher Education Commission’s National Curriculum Revision Committee for IR (2017-2018). The list of courses she has taught at all graduate levels during the last seven years include: international political economy, international law, arms control and disarmament, politics of Asia Pacific, international security, government and politics and China, and, legal and normative framework of warfare.
