The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) has over one hundred members from eighteen countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders. APLN aims to inform and energize public opinion, especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and to do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and eventually eliminated.

Sihasak Phuangketkeow is a former Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sihasak Phuangketkeow is a former Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also a former Visiting Senior Fellow in the Thailand Studies Programme of the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute and an advisor to Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor project.
Mr. Phuangketkeow was a former President of the Human Rights Council, Fifth Cycle (2010 - 2011). He also served as Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office in Geneva since 2007. Prior to his appointment to Geneva, he had been serving as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand since 2006. From 2002 to 2006, he was Director-General at the Department of Information and Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A career diplomat, Mr. Phuangketkeow joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979 and has held posts in the Department of Information, the Department of Political Affairs, the Office of the Permanent Secretary, and the Department of East Asian Affairs. His foreign postings include serving in Washington from 1983 to 1987, in Tokyo from 1992 to 1996, and a stint as Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2002. In addition to serving as Thai Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, he subsequently served as Thai Ambassador to Japan and then to France before his retirement. He is currently Secretary-General of the Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council.
Mr. Phuangketkeow has a Bachelor of Political Science degree in international relations from Chulalongkom University in Thailand and a Master of Arts in international public policy from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. He was born on 21 December 1957 and is married.
