The Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN) has over one hundred members from eighteen countries across Asia and the Pacific, consisting of former political, diplomatic and military leaders, senior government officials, and scholars and opinion leaders. APLN aims to inform and energize public opinion, especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and to do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and eventually eliminated.
PAN Zhenqiang
Deputy Chairman of the China Foundation for International Studies, Senior Adviser to the China Reform Forum
Pan Zhenqiang served as Major General to the Chinese Army and now holds the position of deputy chairman of the China Foundation for International Studies. He is also the senior adviser to the China Reform Forum.
Major General Pan Zhenqiang (retired) is deputy chairman of the China Foundation for International Studies, senior adviser to the China Reform Forum and director of research at the Institute for Strategy and Management of the Central University of Finance and Economics in China. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs.
Major General Pan is a guest professor at a number of China's civilian universities and research institutions, including Tsinghua University in Beijing and Fudan University in Shanghai. He joined the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 1963 and served in the Department of the General Staff for over two decades. After 1986, he was research fellow and director at the Institute of Strategic Studies, PLA National Defense University until his retirement in August 2001.
