Tan Sri Rastam MOHD ISA Chairman & Chief Executive of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia Tan Sri Rastam is a former Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia. He served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malaysian diplomatic missions abroad.
  • Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa is Chairman and Chief Executive of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia.  Tan Sri Rastam is a former Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia.  He served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malaysian diplomatic missions abroad, including as High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Bosnia Herzegovina, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Indonesia and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York. 

    While serving as Permanent Representative to the UN in New York (2003-2005), 

    Tan Sri Rastam also chaired the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Coordinating Bureau when Malaysia was Chair of NAM (2003-2006).  He led NAM in the negotiations at the 2005 NPT Review Conference and its preparatory meetings.  Prior to being appointed PR, he was also Counsellor (1988-1991) and Deputy Permanent Representative (1998-1999) at the Malaysian Permanent Mission in New York.  He was also Alternate Representative to the UN Security Council in 1989-90 and 1999. 

    Tan Sri Rastam is Chairman of the Malaysian National Committee for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), Chairman of the Malaysian National Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) and CSCAP Co-Chair (2015-2017).  He is also a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council – ABAC and Board Member, China-Southeast Asia Research Center on the South China Sea (CSARC).  He is currently Chair of ASEAN-ISIS.
